Analysis: With the Detroit Lions taking Aaron Curry with the first overall selection, it really shuffles up the rest of the draft causing Matthew Stafford to take a fall (not quite a Brady Quinn style fall, but a fall none the less). Another surprise has Mark Sanchez being taken by the Seattle Seahawks preparing for the future, who seems to be a proto-typical west coast quarterback. Perhaps another surprise has the Cheeseheads of Green Bay taking the defensive end from LSU, Tyson Jackson who could either be a DE or a rush linebacker in that new 3-4 defense in GB.
What do you know, Dan Snyder makes a choice that will send shock up and down team draft boards by selecting Matthew Stafford. They have plenty of holes on their team but this kind of move would pretty much render Jason Campbell about as usefull as monopoly money. Another shocker here, the New England Patriots have a stud linebacker fall to them in Rey Maualuga to inject some youth into an aging LB core.
The Last pretty big surprise is the Arizona Cardinals lucking out with Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno falling to them at pick 31. It was obvious that Edge does not have any future left in Zona, and we don’t think that Tim Hightower has a future as a feature, but will make an excellent complementary back.
Love this blog I’ll be back when I have more time.
